Pros: This place is phenomenal. I can't eat seafood, but the people I came with had shrimp baskets (it's lightly fried) and couldn't stop raving about it. I had the best chicken sandwich of my life. Everyone who works here is unbelievably nice. Great people. Great service. Plus, you can't beat the view. Great for families or just kickin back a few while you watch the waves roll in. Cons: None.

Best spot around. Perfectly fried shrimp every time, excellent service even during the busy season and the nicest folks around.

Not the fanciest place, but if you want to dress casual for lunch/dinner or just come in off of the beach and enjoy good food and a great view, then this place will work for you. I have been here twice now, both times during Memorial Day weekend and it's never that crowded. I think it's kind of a "hidden" place that maybe only the locals know about or tourist who happen to stumble upon it know about (like me). Located at the Apache pier and near the Apache trailer park/campground, it's pretty easy to miss. The most recent visit, I had the shrimp basket which came with cole-slaw and fries. price was around $20, so it was pricey for the amount of food, but the shrimp tasted fresh and the shrimp wasn't over-breaded. I also liked the cocktail sauce to dip the shrimp in. My friends ordered a variety of sandwiches and samplers and everyone enjoyed their food. They also have beer on draft. Service is prompt and friendly. Everything is very casual and laid back here. P.S, they also have breakfast. Haven't tried that yet, but that looked good also.

Ok let me first say when we walked up I expect average at best bar food... The quality of the food shocked me! Awesome. Even the shrimp were clearly fresh. Had the whitening fish caught today and thoroughly enjoyed the meal. Even the fries were perfectly cooked! Glad I trust yelp reviews (this one had 4 1-2 stars!...yup) I will come again for sure.

  • Heather R.

The shrimp basket is the best I've ever had!! Great view of the ocean! Pricey for what you get but the food and view are well worth the trip! Very casual atmosphere which was nice after a day at the beach...you can show up in shorts and a t-shirt and feel right at home.

We absolutely LOVE this place! It is now a tradition every time we're in Myrtle, at least once if not two or three times! Great service and the best fried shrimp you will ever have! Be sure to ask for the "boom boom" sauce, absolutely delicious! The shrimp is so lightly breaded and fantastic. Also great sweet tea if that's your thing! Do not pass this place up!

CASUAL DINING WITH A MILLION DOLLAR VIEW. I ate here al fresco (there are two dining areas - indoor and outdoor), last evening, along with my mother and brother. Next to the food and incredible oceanfront views, Kyle was an outstanding addition to Croakers. Even tho I am a local, I had never been to Croakers and was a little apprehensive about finding the restaurant inside the campgrounds. You have to go in a ways to get to the guard house. The guard couldn't have been nicer when we told him we were going to the restaurant. He issued us a parking pass and gave us directions. The facility is handicap accessible. I highly recommend visiting if you are looking for friendly service, great food, outstanding ocean views and relaxation. Look forward to returning.

Yelp does it again! I saw the strong reviews and we were staying 1/2 a mile away at Kingston Plantation so we just walked on down through surf and sand. We had flounder and shrimp; both were extremely fresh and delicious. They do a good job frying it and the fries, slaw and tarter sauce were all excellent as well. Our server told us the seafood is brought in from Shallotte, NC about every other day. We sat out on the patio and it was shady with a nice breeze. Service was friendly and the ocean view can't be beat! One final note - the map via Yelp makes this place look like it is more inland, but the actual restaurant is right before the pier starts and is easily accessible from the beach. It's also no frills so I assume they don't want you coming in with just a bathing suit on. But beyond that, it's pretty casual.

Wife and I were looking for a seafood lunch, and didn't want to spend a fortune. This place fit the bill. Great fish at a good price. Real hole in the wall, down home place. Service was very friendly, waiter was an old southern gentleman. Bit hard to find via GPS. Advice would be to go into the Apache Campground and drive all the way to the back towards the pier.

  • Tom C.

We paid for parking. We drove through a trailer park. We were seated in wet seats. The menu didn't have grouper on it as other Yelp reviews have said. Why not? "Grouper is too expensive for us to keep on the menu." They did have tilapia and cod. Walmart has tilapia and cod. We left.

If you're not from the area this is a difficult place to find. We were trying to find a place for seafood and the parking lots by us were all packed so we didn't want to bother because we knew the wait was going to be over an hour. We found this place via yelp and drove passed the entrance like 4 times. We figured out that you had to drive through the camping grounds. It's attached to a store that is also attached to the pier. The menu is small so if you're looking for a variety this isn't the place for you. We ordered the basket to start which had a assortment of fish and shrimp. My fiance usually doesn't eat any type of seafood unless it's calamari and he enjoyed it. We both ordered the flounder and fries and enjoyed that also. We took a walk on the pier afterwards to walk off the fried food. This is not a fancy place but the food and service was great.

Take a place you didn't expect and that is croakers. I never traveled through an RV park to get to a great restaurant with a view of the longest pier on the east coast. Portions are small so get an appetizer, sampler rocked. It may or may not cost you $2 to get through the front gate so take cash. You'll want to walk the pier and that is $1 per person. Get an ice cream and enjoy the view.

This is a very fun super casual place! We were staying at the Hilton just down the beach. We walked here one night and walked down the pier which was really fun. The restaurant is very small and very casual. Perfect for what we wanted. Our waitress was very good and gave us good tips. The beer was definitely the cheapest draft beer that we found at any restaurant. The food was way better than I thought it was going to be! My wife ordered the fried shrimp basket which came with fries and coleslaw. The shrimp were lightly friend and were perfect. Any more fried and it would have been too greasy. I had the blacked flounder basket which had great flavor. This is a great place to go to especially if staying in walking distance on the beach!

Jim and I love this place. We found it a family trip ago when we were staying nearby. This year were NOT staying nearby, but we've drive the 30 min to get here twice in the last couple of days. It feels like a staple in the area. It's clean, family friendly, the staff is happy and accommodating. It's really the atmosphere you want when you're on a beach vaca. Bloody Mary's are delightful. They're a little heavy handed on the booze, but that's also ideal . We share a crisp house salad with balsamic to start. Jim gets the sampler basket with shrimp, flounder, and catfish. The breading is a light dusting of a cornmeal. I get the shrimp platter so I can house some fries with my shcrimps. I'm a healthy person. I ran on the beach 5 miles this morning. You get it. Get everything fried. And, the house secret is boom boom sauce. Ask for it. You've just become an insider.

Excellent peel and eat shrimp and fried shrimp. Always a sucker for a good French fry and Croakers fries are pretty delicious. We will definitely make this a tradition whenever we come the Myrtle.

Croakers is a casual dining, family friendly restaurant with high quality, fresh seafood that clashes with your first impressions in a wonderful way. Must be why they call it Croakers: your first impressions croak when you taste the great food. The restaurant is located inside the Apache Family Campground at the far northern end of Myrtle Beach, about twenty minutes from the heart of the beach (old Pavilion area). It has three large dining areas, two indoor and one outside on a balcony, all with fantastic views of the beach and ocean through large picture windows. The two page menu offers few selections (one page for breakfast, the other for lunch and dinner) but all the food is great. The seafood is fresh local catch from nearby Shallotte, North Carolina. They even make their own cocktail sauce in house every day. I visited on a Monday evening at sunset and got the fried shrimp burger (my first ever) and onion rings. Not gonna trump it up any: the onion rings could have come from Burger King. But the shrimp burger was amazing. About a half dozen breaded, incredibly fresh shrimp on a soft (steamed?) bun with house made cocktail sauce. It was a delicious sandwich, and while the onion rings did not stand out they were still very good. In all I paid $20 for the burger, onion rings, and a beer. NOTE: The restaurant is located inside a campground. They normally charge a parking fee for visitors to the beach and pier. However, if you tell the gate attendant you are arriving for food at the restaurant they will give you a free parking pass. TIP: After finishing off the meal, take a walk down the longest wooden pier on the East Coast. At 1,206' feet in length you'll walk off the food coma from the meal, and get a chance to enjoy a great view several hundred feet out into the ocean. 1

You know I would've given this place 4 stars but they really do skimp you on the food portions.. If I'm going to pay $17 for founder I shoud not be receiving small portions! 2 small pieces and some fries for $17? I mean it tasted fine but not for that price.

  • Hannah J.

We came here last year when we found it on yelp and were so excited to come back this year! They have the best shrimp, we call "crack shrimp." Love this place! Friendly people, good food and right on the pier.

  • Leah R.

We came at 8:50pm and even though I'm pretty sure that they close at 9 they welcomed us in! The shrimp was really really good fresh and light breading the cocktail sauce is a little spicy but really good! We had shrimp basket, shrimp sandwich, basket of fries and two drinks for $34 and it was all define worth it! You do have to drive through the Apache RV/trailer park which is odd but drive all the way through and the restaurant is at the end!

  • Carlotta S.

Really decent food for a dive. It's in the campground complex. I got fried shrimp and I never order anything fried, it looked more grilled and it was awesome! Burger was great, chicken fingers were fresh and awesome and fish sandwich was great. Must seems they make it all here. Really happy we found a decent place for lunch under $50 for 4 of us.

  • Gordon J.

This place was outstanding. It was very clean and the servers were the best. We both had the Shrimp & Flounder. You cannot go wrong. Both items were fresh and cooked to perfection. This was our favorite place out of all restaurants we went to in Myrtle Beach and we plan to come here every trip to this area. Definitely a 5 Star rating!

    (5)
  • Mark F.

Yes, the coveted 5th star. Took a party of 12 here. Very reasonable prices and excellent service. Shrimp (very light breading) and bacon cheeseburgers were a big hit. Nice ocean view. Might want to get here early. Not a lot of seating, and I heard them run of of peel and eat shrimp while we were finishing up.

    (5)
  • Mikaela L.

LOVE love this place! We came here 3 days in a row for lunch. Their cheeseburger is phenomenal as well as their fried shrimp and chicken wings. Great service too! Will definitely come back when we visit Myrtle Beach again.

  • Jon C.

I was staying at the Margate on the other side of the pier and stumbled into this place. The prices were ridiculously low for such a touristy area, and the food was exceptional. Clint, our server was excellent as well. Cheap/good food, cheaper booze, and very kid/family friendly! Definitely coming back.

My family and I were looking for a good seafood place around Kingston plantation, the Bimini oyster bar was first to pop up but there is always a full parking lot there and a long wait. We found this place through Yelp and decided to check out. The menu was short and simple with seafood sandwiches, baskets, etc. The food that we got was excellent! My mother is a vegetarian and there wasn't much available on the menu but the waiter was able to get her a baked potato and some other things. The shrimp basket had a good amount to make you feel content but my brother got the sandwich and it was definitely not enough for the amount that we paid. Other than that the food and the view of the beach was great, we will definitely be coming back.

We have ate here every day during this trip to Apache Campground and we have not been disappointed. Menu is full of fresh, homey choices. Staff is very friendly.

  • Kimberly S.

Wow! Don't let the looks fool you! The food was absolutely delicious...I can't stop raving about the flounder bites! We had kids with us that were kind of tired of seafood and they had ample selections to keep them happy....burgers, dogs, etc. I decided to get a bacon cheeseburger as well and was not disappointed....everything was absolutely delicious! Kicking ourselves that we did not discover this gem earlier!!

Read reviews and was compelled to try it. This is a place to go for food - if you're going for atmosphere, perhaps you want to go elsewhere (if you want suit and tie kind of meal). The fried seafood (oysters, fish) is outstanding. The breading is thin and crisp - very difficult to do at home (at least I've never been able to). After having fried oyster appetizer, I just couldn't get my fish sandwich grilled... Not much more to be said, you get excellent food at a reasonable price.

  • Adam M.

I am just amazed to be honest. This is truly one of those local gems. At the time of writing this with only 4 Yelp reviews Croakers is sorely under visited. I whole heartedly agree with the previous reviews of excellent, moist fish. I had the grouper basket 2 days in a row. Just awesome fish 'n chips. Crisp and wonderful outside with perfectly done fish inside. Served with fries and a side of slaw it is a nice sized lunch. Yelpers interested in a quiet not so busy seafood joint will be well pleased after trying Croakers. Turn in to the Apache Pier RV park and be prepared for a $2 parking fee. We walked from the Hilton to the pier the first night and it took about 25-30 minutes for a leisurely walk to the pier and about 15 minutes for a more direct walk back.

  • Erik P.

Came here based on a few reviews on here....was NOT disappointed. Servers was friendly and speedy, shrimp was hands down the best I've had anywhere in this area. Prices seemed very reasonable to me with decent portions. What we got: App- seafood sampler - shrimp grouper flounder - all were delicious and well prepared Entrees- fried shrimp basket (x3) - yup they are that good Final thoughts: Do yourself a favor and give this place a try!

Definitely hidden if you aren't familiar with Apache campground or pier. Food was great. Very fresh.had grilled shrimp basket and grilled flounder basket. Onion rings and fries were yummy. Coleslaw was fresh and great. Will be back!

Hard to find if coming from the rode (need to drive through campground). We were the only people there, but it was only 5:00 on a tues. Good shrimp and flounder sandwich. Not that extensive of a menu. Great setting though.

  • Amy R.

Found this place on yelp wanted something close to where we were staying . The seafood was good and fresh, but for the price there should of been more food and more sides to choose from. It says that is great for kids but there wasn't even a kids menu

    (3)
  • Nathan W.

The service and food were good. It is hidden back through the campground. This is a kind of a DDD kinda spot. Nothing fancy just good cooked food. The fish and shrimp tasted nice and fresh. Other than the setting, there wasn't anything too special about the place.

    (3)
  • Ed G.

Wow, what fantastic food! We had the seafood sampler, catfish, shrimp, and grilled scallops. Everything was cooked perfectly and served piping hot and delicious. The service was excellent, and we had a great view of the ocean. The location is odd, at the base of the pier in a campground, but once you find it you will love it! We walked there down the beach from our condo at the Hilton Kingston.

this place had the most unfriendly owner! Took 20 people and didnt see the sign of needing a reservation.. other sign said seat yourself.. 10 minutes later we were kicked out and still had to pay for food we hadnt got to eat!! Knowing small business owners myself you would think you wouldnt turn away any business.. Wouldnt even give them one star, but sadly it makes me... with an owner and service like that I dont see that place being around long...

I was in Myrtle Beach about a month ago for a friends wedding. Of the two days I spent lounging on the beach, I found myself at Croaker's BOTH days--and I was always amazed that NOBODY else was there. I mean, it was the only "non-hotel" restaurant that I saw that was ON THE BEACH, right by the pier, that had a decent enough outdoor patio with an ocean view. I mean, was I just that idiot tourist who didn't know they were frying up rat innards and calling them shrimp?? No, no, I was not, because I ordered the shrimp, and it was absolutely wonderful. Maybe I'm just not used to fresh seafood (being from the Midwest), but I was VERY impressed with the quality of the seafood, the reasonable price, the GREAT staff, and prime location. I'll freely admit that I'm always partial to a "hole-in-the-wall" restaurant, this one just happened to be on the shores of the Atlantic! Ignore the trailer park next door, and don't waste your money on $20 chicken tenders at the Hilton, check out Croaker's for a solid meal and a few beers with a view!

Really about the security guard at apache. Paid $5 to find out it was closed. Make certain to ask before paying.

  • Lisa S.

I had a really nice experience at Croakers. Very laid back atmosphere with a nice view of the ocean. I had the grilled seafood sampler and it was very tasty - can't wait to return. If you are looking for a fancy atmosphere, this is not the place for you, but if you want good, fresh seafood (grilled or deep fried) you will enjoy. Someone mentioned a 2.00 parking fee - I didn't have to pay anything - just told the guy at the guard shack that I wanted to eat at Croakers and he let me drive right in.

Best SHRIMP on the beach or better yet, in Myrtle Beach. After trying many other local places looking for good seafood we found this place on our last day here. The shrimp was perfection. We had the peel n eat appetizer, was expecting cold, but they were fresh steamed jumbo shrimp. Fried shrimp/flounder basket was great! Fish was flaky and shrimp was seasoned and battered perfectly. Love! So hate that we wasted other nights eating mediocre food elsewhere.

    (5)
  • Chau S.

DIamond in the rough. Highly recommend the shrimp basket. Fresh off the boat according to the staff. Service was outstanding. Ask for the special 'Bam' sauce to go with the shrimp. Definitely a beach place. Very casual. We also didnt have to pay for parking.

    (5)
  • Kelly M.

Definitely not worth the money! Food wasn't bad but portions were small for the price. No parking. I guess what do you expect for a packed trailer park!!

We wanted some good fresh seafood on our trip. We found this place and are so glad we did! The waitress was super friendly and very attentive. We sat on the deck and definitely enjoyed the view while we were there. The food was outstanding. The price is a little steep but was definitely worth it. We will be back.

We stayed at a nearby condo down the beach from the Pier & found this gem by mistake. My family & I all tried the shrimp (grilled & fried) & we sure were not disappointed! So fresh, lightly battered, moist, & a great amount. Reasonable price, my family of 5 ate shrimp dinners, all drinks & tip for $75 - not bad for on the beach, in a resort town. We sat outside & enjoyed the view & the sounds of the waves. This is a super casual place, attached to the pier, near a campground, arcade, etc. parking was a bit of an issue because people park the area to fish the pier. After dinner we walked the pier ($3.00 fee) to watch the fisherman. My kids got to "pet" a baby shark!

  • Lesa B.

This was a great find. My hubby and I have been coming to MB for over 10 years and this is the 1st year we've heard of this place. We shared the flounder/shrimp and the grouper/shrimp baskets. I subbed the onion rings for fries and the meal was delicious! We missed our usual fish dinner on Friday because we were traveling however this made up for the miss. This place is locked into our GPS. Note: as mentioned by the previous reviewer you must go through the Apache Campground to get to the restaurant but we did not have to pay to park.

  • Ellen A.

Just are lunch here and wow! Fresh fish right at the pier. Lisa, our server was informative regarding menu items and suggestions. Felt like we were at home on Moms back porch. She was great. Highly recommend you give this place your business.

  • Garrett L.

Came here with the family and wasn't so bad I mean people enjoyed their food the only objection is the quantity of food . I ordered a shrimp sandwich and onion rings and the shrimp sandwich was nothing but bun, lettuce, tomatoe, and like 6 pieces of small shrimp for like 8 bucks and that was a absolute joke but the onions were delicious, and the view was good. This place got a better review cause people I was with said the burgers were good and I have been here before except I ordered the grouper sandwich . The grouper sandwich is a good choice to look into by the way .

Having recently purchased a permanent site in Apache Family Campground, we were pleasantly surprised at how good and reasonably priced the food is at Croaker's. We have been down to camp every other weekend for the past two months and I don't get tired of any of the food there that we have tried. The flounder plater (12.50) and the double cheeseburgers (7.25) are two I highly recommend - I like mine carolina style (chili, mustard, onions and slaw) and there were no up-charges and two slices of cheese on hand pattied burgers. No extra cost to substitute fries for slaw either on the flounder platter. Nice courteous service every time.

Ate here twice during my stay in myrtle. Amazing. Food is very fresh and good. I had flounder and fish others in my party had grouper and shrimp fried, hamburger, hot dog and chicken tenders. Everyone was completely satisfied with their meal. There was no wait each time and the staff was polite, attentive and friendly. Thank you yelp and reviewers as I would not have tried or found this place otherwose. FYI never paid for any parking.

  • Terra S.

The food here is very good, especially for the price. It's right on the pier and is a bit hard to get to - you have to pass through the Apache campground which we didn't realize at first. The fish fry was delicious. My only big complaint is that they still allow smoking in the restaurant - yuck (thus 4 stars instead of 5). My waiter was super helpful though and understood my concerns.

    (4)
  • Rich R.

Tucked in among gaudy tourist traps, we found this great little place where the staff is genuinely friendly, and the food is simple, tasty, and priced so reasonably. Compared to the $25 I spent last night for dry, overcooked fish at a nearby big-sign place, the $7 fish sandwich I just had at Croakers was perfect. Located right at the base of the Apache Pier, with a great view of the beach, this is where we'll be eating lunch and/or dinner for the duration of our stay.
